Fort Shannon

Fort Shannon is an old World War II bunker that was built on the mouth of the Shannon as a defense against invaders attempting to land via the river Shannon.

This is the least accessible location in the database. One is required to drive a few miles on a country dirt road and then walk a mile or so through fields before climbing down into the bunker so it is not practical for large crews or HGVs but might perhaps more suit small run-and-gun productions. Information on accessing the Fort can be got by contacting the Bridewell Museum in Tarbert village (see separate entry for the Bridewell in this ‘Historical’ section of the database).
